Today I was totally inspired. I saw this great post about summer window treatments and inspiration hit. We've had these brown treatments for quite a while now. I love them, they've got great texture and they're perfect-for fall and winter. I love the light and airy look of sheers, but really I am lazy, I don't want to go out and hunt them down. And then I'm cheap too, I don't really want to pay for them either.
So after I read Melissa's post I thought of the landscape fabric we've got out in the shed. We bought it for the garden, to cover our little baby plants and keep them warm during the cold high desert nights. But we didn't realize that the width of the fabric was all wrong. It was way to short for the garden, but just right for our slider door.
I got to work, and about fifteen minutes later I had these amazing sheers.

I just looped the fabric over the rod so that it was doubled and then I cut the end. I sewed on a few buttons on the top to keep it together. I know it won't do a thing for privacy, but we really don't need it in the kitchen anyway. We usually keep the doors open at night so we can head out to the new fire pit.
A simple solution, just hope the man didn't have any other plans for this stuff.
Oh yeah, the best part: totally free. I used stuff we already had around the house.
