My amazing husband brought me one of these the other morning. I love him, I love that he knows what makes me smile, I love that making me happy makes him happy. Just so you know, that goes both ways. I love being married to him. And I know that I’m also gonna love the next seven Monday nights when out with him-alone every night. We’re taking a marriage course that includes a candle light dinner and a dvd presentation all about, you guessed it: marriage. I expect to be challenged, I expect that we’ll grow closer and I expect that I will love walking away from the kids every Monday night.
I loved this article that I came across the other day: How to Raise Boys who Read. Loved it, and couldn’t agree with it more.
I’m amazed that summer came back-it was pushing 90 this weekend and it’s pretty warm still. Good for the tomatoes in the garden, bad for afternoon runs with dog. Just too hot for both of us.
I just made pumpkin zucchini muffins, so so good. I might need to hide them before they somehow all get eaten up, most likely by me. I like pumpkin in any form and I can’t turn down a good muffin. Which is why I probably need to cut sugar out for a little bit, or perhaps for a long time. So as to avoid that muffin top, like to eat them but don’t like having them around my middle.
The girls are using a tiny fake squash as a microphone. They are currently conducting an interview with their friend Piper. It’s quite comical.
And with that I realize it’s time to put on my dress, it’s date night!
Happy Monday evening everyone.

hope you have/had a wonderful evening full of candlelight and relaxing time with your honey.
ReplyDeletehow sweet. i think monday may be your new favorite day of the week for a bit - enjoy!
ReplyDeletei really like your self description on the side bar. that is clever. i wonder what all my people would say. i wish i was a better listener. i want someone to say that about me. i'm gonna work on that.
ReplyDeletethanks for your sweet comments. also, i really love the Eldredge books too.
Wow, enjoy your uninterrupted time alone. What a blessing to have time out to talk about the two of you and your marriage. When we go out, it's hard for Hubby and I to not talk about the kids the entire time.
ReplyDeletewhat a great thing to do (the marriage course) and such a great format to do it in. i love the fact that you get time away and you get to treat yourselves at the same time. enjoy! i can't wait to hear more about it.
ReplyDeleteyou are taking the marriage course!! isn't it great? my hubby and i took it about 6 years ago; now we are the leaders at our church. it's SUCH a blessing to serve and to encourage and to help give couples a "fancy" night out!
ReplyDeletenicky and sila have also written The Parenting Book; I just started reading it. Great resource and it looks like they'll have curriculum out for a class next year. We are HUGE Alpha curriculum fans at our church!
